A little of both I think. As a fan of Grant Morrison, this seemed like a weak effort and was weird for the sake of being weird. It had many themesthe grief of losing a child, marriage and betrayal, retribution, immigration. This I’m sure, is not Smolens fault, but it adds no luster to an already lusterless book.
