So when Bailey picks up a new addition to the force, Helen Tozer, young and mouthy, he and the rest of his team fall back on their gender biases and behaviors which they have nurtured for the past X years. The author's wry humour filters through much of the text, although his cynicism may be a deterrent to some wishing to enter the profession. For six years he was the principal bars and pubs writer for Time Out London, travelling all over the city to run the rule over cocktail bars, real-ale inns, gastropubs and hip drinking spots. Don't be fooled, this book isn't just for encouraging dads.
