The writing was clever and snappy, and the description of mealtimes had me salivating even though I’m not a foodie. We read this novel for my 4th-year college French class, and I loved it. I did not like the message given inthisbook to kids about how much they disliked spot because he was "fat, tall, little". I get the overall message that they like him best as he started out, no need to change, but the way it is presented is not good....
